Humble Beginnings
Archery was a big part of Martin Stubstad’s
life growing up. It became an even bigger part of
his life in 1977 when he founded Archery Headquarters.
Starting with just $2,500 he had borrowed from a
friend and using his parents’ basement as his
“store front”, Marty initially sold only
two things: bows and arrows. By 1982, however, his
product line and customer base had grown to the point
that he needed to expand. His search for a new location
led him to the location on N Hwy 63. This new, larger
location made it possible to add shooting lanes to
growing list of services he was providing to the archery-loving
public. It wasn’t until 1989, though, that Marty
walked away from his teaching career and made a full-time
go of it with Archery Headquarters.
Experience That Leads to Expertise
One of the things that has led to Archery Headquarters’
success, Marty believes, is the fact that they have
been and still are 100% archery oriented. Whereas
most stores dabble in a little bit of everything,
Archery Headquarters specializes in one thing: archery.
It is this specialization—combined with 30
years of training, sporting, and hunting experience—that
makes Archery Headquarters uniquely qualified to best
equip you as an archer and meet your needs. And that’s
important, because everyone’s needs are different.
You name it, Archery Headquarters knows it . . .
and can pass that knowledge on to you.
Education That Leads to Enjoyment
As mentioned above, before he decided to make a full-time
go of it with Archery Headquarters, Marty made his
living as a teacher.

And Best of All . . .
As Marty has said, “Archery is a very personal
sport. The people I’ve had the privilege of
doing business with over the past 30 years aren’t
just customers, they’ve become my best friends.”
